This is the website for the Vale of Leven Hospital Inquiry. The Inquiry was set up by Scottish Ministers to investigate the occurrence of C. difficile infection at the Vale of Leven Hospital from 1 January 2007 onwards. The Inquiry will also investigate the deaths associated with C. difficile which occurred between 1 December 2007 and 1 June 2008.

Nicola Sturgeon MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Cities Strategy, announced the Inquiry in the Scottish Parliament in April 2009. The Inquiry, which has been set up under the Inquiries Act 2005, began its work on 1 October 2009. The Rt Hon Lord MacLean, pictured, is the Chairman of the Inquiry.

Current status

This session of hearings is due to run until Thursday 2 February. There will then be a break in hearings until Monday 20 February.
